As far as we're concerned this all means the same thing; your data is securely removed ready for resale or recycling of your computer.
Why wipe your data?
Most of us have personal and sensitive data on our computers. You might think deleting files and emptying your recycle bin would remove that data but it doesn't. If you imagine an advertising directory full of adverts and the index at the front, when you delete a file you are removing the item from the index at the front but the advert itself stays on the hard drive untouched. Using easily available software you (and some nasty ID thieves) can scan your hard drive and find your files without looking at the table.
How does it work?
To securely delete the data we offer three ways of performing certified destruction: we can destroy the entire hard drive physically; we can wipe the drive using software so you can continue to use the drive with a new installation of Windows; or you can delete any files you no longer want and we'll make sure the free space is completely cleaned. Our certified destruction will provide a record of the hard drive serial number and proof that we have cleaned the drive as requested.
